Veggie Planting time

It’s that time of year when the veggies are planted and grown from seed.

We have an allotment, we have had it for three years now.  It took six years of being on the waiting list but we got to the top in the end.  Last I heard there were ninety people on the waiting list (we started at sixty seven). The council only issue half  plots now but that is enough for us.

Our allotment is on a double slope so it drains really well.  We also have a micro climate here compared to the local area, we always get good weather, most days are bright and sunny during the summer and the temperature is fairly consistent .  On a good year – unlike last year (  not  consistently warm enough) we can grow chillies and peppers outside and last year we managed to grow some aubergines.  Butternut squash always grows well.

The potatoes have chitted and been planted.

The onion sets have been planted.

The seeds for the plants being grown at home have been planted and most have come up and are doing well.  The parsnips and chillies are having a bit of a no show at the moment, so I’ll give them another week and plant some more seeds.

Just waiting for the temperature to rise a bit and I will put the seedlings outside and acclimatise them to the outside and then we are ready for planting.
